Islamist base in Balkans raises security concerns for Europe G2, PAID ONLY

As concerns mount over Kosovo becoming a base for Iran and Islamic extremism should it go independent, similar alarms are being sounded again for neighboring Bosnia-Herzegovina.

The effect would give Iran and al-Qaida a base in the Balkans that forms the underbelly of Europe, thereby positioning them to direct their influence on Muslims there. Europe already is concerned about this prospect, given the increasing numbers of Muslims throughout Europe, including Bosnia-Herzegovina.

British in Bosnia to probe 7 July terror link ISN Security Watch

ISN SECURITY WATCH (15/01/06) – A high-ranking Bosnian official has
told ISN Security Watch that British anti-terror investigators are due
to arrive in the Bosnian capital, Sarajevo, this week to investigate a
Bosnian link to the 7 July bombings of London’s transport network that
killed 52 people, including the suicide bombers.

The source, who is close to the investigation, said the British
investigators were interested in four British citizens of Afro-Asian
origin who had been under surveillance in Bosnia, one of which is
believed to be the brother of one of the London suicide bombers.

Prosecutors had accused the defendants of conspiring with four other Muslim
men, whom a Bosnian court last month convicted of planning a terror attack
somewhere in Europe and jailed for between two and 15 years. The target of the
plot hasn’t been established.

In October 2005 Bosnian police found in a Sarajevo apartment 20 kilograms (44
pounds) of explosives, some of which was attached to a belt, and a video with
instructions on how to perform a suicide bombing. They also found Internet and
mobile telephone correspondence with the Danish men, which led to their arrests
